Dear ,

All of us remember that infamous day. Effective September 1, 2021, abortion was all but completely outlawed in Texas, with the nation’s first six-week abortion ban. Less than a year later, following the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization decision, a complete ban took effect.

Now — even with a complete ban in place — anti-abortion forces continue to crack down on women’s freedom in Texas.

This week, The Washington Post and The Texas Tribune both reported on how Texas counties and cities are passing local ordinances to make it illegal to drive someone out of state for an abortion.

We have to fight back and resist what’s happening.

This is why Blue Horizon Texas is supporting candidates for local office across the state who will stand up against this nonsense.

We need county commissioner and city council candidates to run in the reddest counties in Texas to fight against this kind of extreme overreach. We can, should, and do win local races in red counties, but Dems rarely run.

That’s where Blue Horizon Texas comes in.

What is Blue Horizon doing? We’re traveling across the state, with partners including the Texas Democratic Party, Mothers Against Greg Abbott, and The 134 PAC

We’re recruiting candidates and providing information on resources we provide to candidates running in just these types of races.

We already have local candidates signed up to run in Amarillo, New Braunfels, Conroe, Bryan, and more, and we’re working hard to fill the slate in as many counties in the state as possible before the December filing deadline.

Just next week, we’ll be in Waco, Bastrop, and Seguin on our Rural Road Show with Mothers Against Greg Abbot and the 134 PAC. Register today to get inspired and involved in organizing and running for democracy in 2024:

Later this month, we’ll be on our Panhandle tour stop in Amarillo, and we’ll be holding recruiting sessions every single weekend in October.

Can’t attend but want to help? Donate today to help sustain these efforts.

With gratitude,

Stephanie & Claire

WANT TO SUPPORT BLUE HORIZON TEXAS? In 2022, less than half the counties in Texas had Democrats represented on the ballot — and 135 counties had no Democrats run at all. In response, Blue Horizon launched our “2024 challenge,” recruiting candidates in areas where Texas Democrats don’t have political infrastructure, and building a sustainable pipeline to engage, educate, and support Texas voters and Texas Democratic campaigns. To help us meet the challenge to get more Democrats on every Texas ballot, we need your help.
